Amie conquered my stomach issues that I’ve had for years, including the everyday bloating.  Once that was resolved, we moved on to life changing eating habits.

On a daily basis, Amie has kept me on track with everyday meal planning, and sets weekly goals, along with giving me great ideas to change things up a bit to keep me interested.  As I take part in my gyms fitness challenges,  Amie customizes a meal plan for me, that makes it easy to follow with much success in winning.

I have struggled with my weight ever since having my kids. I would workout and workout and workout some more, but the scale never budged. It wasn’t until I joined a 21-day challenge at my gym where they incorporated a dietitian to work with you, that I finally did see a change. Amie created a custom meal plan, provided me with the tools, support and motivation that I had been missing (and didn’t know I was missing). My Healthy Lifestyle journey with Amie began over 10 years ago when she was working at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. Over our 3 years of working together, her personalized weekly sessions with me included physically walking the hallways of the facility while discussing my daily exercise, food and drink routine. Furthermore, she made suggestions to ensure I had healthier nutrition and exercise habits. This encouraged me to continue with walks around my neighborhood and I transformed to an improved eating lifestyle. These changes produced favorable results! I lost weight, my physician reduced my prescription medication, and I felt better overall. This was due to Amie’s expert guidance and example. 

However, "duty" called, and my time with Amie ended much quicker than I wanted. The military sent her husband (and her) to a military facility on the west coast. However, we remained in touch on Facebook. We re-connected about a year and a half ago, when Amie called and said that she was starting her own small business and asked if I wanted to, again, have consultations with her to discuss my healthy lifestyle journey. I eagerly agreed and we’re once again having regular weight management lifestyle discussions via FaceTime! She’s a great listener and a true professional. She takes copious notes and sends those to me at the end of each session to applaud my accomplishments and state suggestions to maintain/improve my daily regimen. Everyone talks about nutrition but very few people understand it. If you are like me, I needed to find somebody who knew what they were talking about, someone that could help guide me down the journey of find good health and nutrition.

I was one of those people that worked out a couple of times a week and ate whatever I wanted. I liked to work out and always tried to make time for exercise, but with young kids and their schedules, my only option was to fit it in where I could. I got into my 40’s and realized my metabolism and life caught up with me and I started to see weight coming on and my body changing- not for the better. It started to get to me mentally and I knew I needed to find not only an exercise program that I liked but, of course, it had to fit with my schedule. I started working out regularly and realized nothing was changing. Friends had their opinions, but I was discouraged and needed to see a specialist in food to see what suggestions they had.

I was introduced to Amie Louwers, Registered Dietitian, owner, and founder of Health Strong, LLC through a fitness trainer. At that time, I had been kickboxing for about a year, 4-5 days a week. I had never worked with a dietitian nor thought I needed to, as I wasn’t too overweight and thought “Why I couldn’t do this myself”. However, I wasn’t feeling myself and knew I needed to get 10 lbs. off at least. With the amount I was working out I didn’t understand why I wasn’t seeing results-neither weight loss nor muscle toning. I just wasn’t happy with myself and wanted to find out if my diet was the problem. Turns out it was.

I have been working with Amie Louwers since September 11, 2020. She has truly changed my life. As a mom of now two active teenage girls that keep me busy and are very involved in sports, I continue to keep exercising a part of my life to set a good example of a healthy lifestyle them. Amie and I meet weekly. She helps me stay focused on my goals and gives me new challenges when I need them, so I don’t get bored or burnt out. She keeps me on my toes and pushes me. She is also there to say it is okay to splurge occasionally. She will listen to your struggles and help create a solid plan that is not too extreme - something that fits with your lifestyle. She has a wealth of knowledge in nutrition and is great with anyone starting out or more advanced that needs any nutritional guidance.

Finding Amie has been mind, body and life changing. I now understand how food can impact my body and I have physically seen great results. I couldn’t recommend her more.

I am very grateful that I met Amie during a challenge at my gym. As the dietitian for the challenge, I worked with her for three weeks to hit my goal--I dropped around 9 lbs which made me over the moon happy since I am 56 and have a hard time losing weight these days. Not only did I lose the weight but I kept it off, including the holidays.

I continued to work with Amie after the challenge because we had a great connection—there is something about her energy I just love, and so appreciate that she focuses on your whole self, not just food. With Amie, you never feel bad or guilty about what you eat. However, she continues to encourage you, set goals and be accountable.

As a working mom, plus a foster to several senior dogs with medical conditions, my life is off the charts stressful.

Amie also works with me to set goals on reducing my stress and getting more sleep, both of which, make it possible for me to keep my food in check, exercise and manage everyday life. Days with a good night’s sleep are wildly more successful, productive and happy than my days with little sleep. For that, I am eternally grateful to Amie for helping me set goals AND keeping me accountable to those goals.

Amie is full of helpful hints, food suggestions and ideas for not only me but my entire family. From easy, healthy yet yummy snack ideas to easy food ideas to meet my crazy lifestyle challenges. One of my favorites is the rainbow food challenge where I get my entire family involved with fun meal planning for the week.

Having Amie in my life has taught me to open my mind and be creative about food without overwhelming me and making it feel like a burden.

I have had the honor of working with Amie. I have met very few who have the compassion to recognize that change is hard even though change is your only option. No matter my resistance to her amazing wise counsel, she still coached me and pushed me with kindness. I was really struggling with nutrition that was more specific to my own body and the goals I wanted to achieve.
